Penny Christensen Announces Retirement
I will be retiring in June as the Executive Director of HopeWood Outdoors/LOMO. February marks 40 years of my service through the ELCA and one of its predecessor church bodies. I continue to love, and am passionate about, Lutheran outdoor ministries. For me it has always been a place where God’s love and grace is shared – with everyone – no exceptions. Camps provide a time and space where people are away from the distractions of daily life so they can hear and sense God’s unconditional love. I am confident that I will leave HopeWood Outdoors in great hands with a visionary Board of Directors and stellar year round staff.
HopeWood Outdoors Executive Director Ministry Position
The board of HopeWood Outdoors is pleased to invite candidates to submit their resume, CV or rostered minster profile with a cover letter for the Executive Director ministry position. The Executive Director acts as the chief executive officer for Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio, d/b/a HopeWood Outdoors. The executive director works in partnership with the board of directors and staff to provide leadership, vision, and direction for the organization and to develop organizational strategy. The executive director implements policies approved by the board, manages the organization’s programs and operations, and represents the ministry to the constituency. Camp Luther, located on 66 wooded acres along the shores of Lake Erie, provides a stunning view with sensational sunsets. Facilities available for rent in May, September, and October, 35 cabins with restroom facilities, full food service, swimming pool, outdoor chapel, indoor chapel, and hiking trails.
LMC is located about 45 min north of Columbus, OH, near Mt. Gilead. Explore woodlands, Alum Creek, ponds and numerous nature trails throughout 400 acres at LMC. Facilities available for rent year-round, Two retreat facilities, 15 cabins, full food service, swimming pool, outdoor chapel, Low ropes challenge course, Hiking trails.
Located in Westerville, OH, our central office handles fundraising, donations, andministration and bookkeeping for LOMO.

LOMO Outreach brings camp to your church. Your congregation can experience all the fun of summer camp by sponsoring your own week-long day camp utilizing LOMO counselors! This is an excellent faith-building experience for your youth, and an effective outreach program to your neighborhood.
